Really noisy at night

Hi, I live in West Ken/Barons court environs. I go to bed pretty late but can't even sleep til about 3 due to noise of people hanging out on street and chatting/shouting..they just stand around at 2.30am (specifically gliddon road/edith road). (Also due to a spate of really expensive sports cars with noisy exhausts, but that's another matter).I don't feel safe enough to confront them but it's unfair to residents trying to sleep. Anyone else experiencing this? What to do? Assume council can't do much?

It's a tricky one. Is there a particular establishment they frequent? You could ask them to ask their customers to be quiet when leaving. If not, there may not be an easy solution. There is no specific law against talking on the street after midnight - it is just inconsiderate, you are probably right not to confront them.

Not sure if this is the same area but on another local forum, www.nextdoor.co.uk (which is an excellent neighbourhood forum and if you are not already registered would suggest you do, it gets loads more input than this site) there was a posting back in April about a large group of people causing disturbances early morning on Sulgrave Road and Batoum Gardens.  Apparently there is a hostel nearby and the police have already been called?  If it isn't the same area it might be worth joining Nextdoor and posting what you have said to see if any of your neighbours are also getting disturbed.

Assume council can't do much?I would not assume that - your local council can do something to prevent noise.  Give them a try.
