Hammersmith Olympians other than James Degale

I saw yesterday that Olympic boxing medal winner James Degale was born locally. Do we have any other local Olympians?

I watched him this morning and he did us proud........ok boxing is probably not the nicest of sports but at least those taking part are equally matched and choose to do it.  Pity some of the thugs patrolling the streets do not take this up.......oh no I forgot, they like to pick on people who cannot defend!

Hammersmith's James DeGale will be boxing for gold on Sunday after winning his semi-final in style this morning.....and as Hammersmith's Adrian Chiles pointed out his interview afterwards was impeccable...not even a hint of swearing (unlike the toffs from the rowing)

James DeGale, the middleweight boxer was said (by a caption on the BBC hinglights show last night) to be from Hammersmith.He's in the last 4 in his competition, so is guaranteed a bronze medal !

Isn't the stadium on the scrubs named the Linford Christie stadium...........assume it is still there.

I saw Matthew Pinsent once in Ravenscourt Park...does that count?And Adrian Chiles - out in Beijing for the Beeb - lives in Brackenbury Village....What about Linford Christie...does he not have some connection with Shepherd's Bush?

On the home page of the Shepherds Bush site Steve Rowbotham of Shepherd’s Bush has won a bronze medal in the men’s double sculls at the Olympic Games in Beijing.......not quite Hammersmith but near enough?????
