Boris Johnson reneges on ticket office promise

Item on ChiswickW4.com reports that he has done an about turn on ticket offices. Having blasted Ken Livingstone for considering reductions in opening hours and pledging not to reduce them he is going for far more swingeing cutbacks in staff and opening hours. Stamford Brook is listed as having some very major reductions in opening hours. Not sure about other stations in the area.

Was chatting to a member of staff at my local station today. His view was that the unions were waiting until after the election on this issue but there was likely to be some sort of action around the second May Bank Holiday. They feel that, unlike other disputes, they'll have public backing for this one and Boris will back down because he will be shown to have been dishonest on the issue.

'Why is that a problem?'Don't see any problem at all with the reduction of staffing at local stations. Most people use Oyster and others should be encouraged to do so.The problem is that these measures were suggested by Ken Livingstone and Boris criticised the plan and pledged not to do likewise. He has been opportunistic and dishonest.
