You have watched the leaders debate.... now meet the candidates standing in Hammersmith as they debate with the Irish Community. Many Irish emigrated to the Caribbean in the past and some were deported. There is an important community of Irish descent in Monserrat for example. Bailey is quite a common name in Ireland and I know of an Irish family of Baileys that have relatives in the Caribbean.Shaun Bailey could well have Irish ancestors as does Barack Obama of course.The fact that he is called Shaun is of course a massive point in his favour. Sean is the Irish for John but is often anglecised to Shaun because the engliash alphabet cannot accommodate the long accent or "fada" which appears over the "e" in Sean.

Shaun Bailey is bound to win with a name like his....Not necessarily. The Irish Community want to know which candidate will address their concerns and those of the wider Hammersmith constituency regardless of whether the candidate is Irish/or of Irish descent. Like us all, the Irish community wants the elected MP to address the health, welfare, safety, education and quality of life for all. Come along on Wed 28 at 7pm to the Irish Cultural Centre and hear the candidates debate these important issues.
