Drugs in Local Schools

It would seem that spending large amounts on your child's education gets you a better class of drug as well as a better class of pupil. The story of four boys from a local private school caught taking cocaine in a night club toilet (surprisingly unreported on this site) raises lots of interesting questions. Children from other schools seem to be harshly treated by the police for minor possession offenses yet no action seems to have been taken in this case which involved Class A drugs. Also expelling sixth formers on study leave but allowing them to take their exams is a totally meaningless punishment.

I find the explanation that Paul gave difficult to believe. Any parent would know that legal action by them against the school would inevitably end up with their son being branded as a spoilt cokehead with litigious and pushy parents. If the head did get threatened with legal action he should have called their bluff.

Talking to parents with children at the school it is possible that any material expulsions could have resulted in legal action from some of the parents involved so the Headmaster's hands were effectively tied.

It's hard to know the exact circumstances of what happened but there does seem to be a growing problem in behaviour at private schools when they send classes home prior to A Level exams. This could be because the pupils are aware that there is no effect sanction against them as this case has shown. Only fair to point out that generally behaviour of local private school kids is exemplary along with many of the local state schools.
