Potli Indian Market Kitchen restaurant
We went here last night. They just opened this week at the King Street location that used to be Tandoori Nights. When we arrived, about 7:15 PM, the place was empty. The owner greeted us very warmly and told us how he and his business partner, the chef, had planned the restaurant together and how they will be displaying the basement kitchen to their customers. They've obviously spent a lot of money refurbishing the place, bringing in lights and artwork from India. The food exceeded our expectations. They had some dishes not usually found on high street Indian restaurant menus. For example, we had a spicy puffed rice with homemade chutneys as an appetizer. It was excellent. The prawns tasted fresh, not thawed. We had the appetizer, three main courses with rice, two glasses of wine, and two beers. The price was £54 including service. Very good value, in our opinion. By the time we left, about 8:45, the place was completely full. For us, living nearby, this is a welcome addition to that strip of King Street. If they maintain last night's standards, they'll do very well and, hopefully, increase competition in the area.
