Petition to Restore Crossing on Shepherd's Bush Road

A group of local people have set up an online petition to get a crossing put back. There was previously one there but it was removed. Because walking is good for you particularly with current problems with obesity.Because stopping and starting traffic more than necessary significantly increases air pollution hurting everyone including pedestrians.Because it's not just cars being held up - buses are delayed too.There are I think 7 crossing points on this stretch of road which is no more than a third of a mile long. There has to be a balance between different modes of transport.

"I can see it's not that big of a detour for pedestrians to go to the nearest one."Why should pedestrians 'detour' for the convenience of motorists, precisely? This is the inner city we're talking about, not the M25.  Pedestrians are a good thing, for health, air quality and setting a good example for the young.

I remember it being discussed at the time - at least over a year ago. There certainly were too many sets of traffic lights on SBR although the almost constant road works didn't help. There are still a lot and as far as I can see it's not that big of a detour for pedestrians to go to the nearest one.
