Hammersmith Bridge Bus Barrier

Lots of press coverage of the 'damage' caused by bus drivers to the barriers on Hammersmith Bridge and how it must be stopped. Having been held up on a bus here there was general approval from the passengers when the driver dismantled the bus. 'Following proper proper procedure' which they are being ordered to do simply means delays for people using the service so it is good that some drivers ignore it. TfL could solve the problem by getting barriers that work.

The driver isn't the one doing the damage. They remove the arm of the barrier because otherwise their passengers would be stuck. If it is not working what is the point of reinstalling it. The lost and damaged barriers are because other people steal them or drive over them.

How on earth can you condone wilful damage?  It is not good that some bus drivers are deliberating driving through the barrier.  Would you be happy if a bus driver deliberately hit your car (assuming you have one) simply because the bus could not get through!  I agree if there is a problem with the barriers it needs to get sorted and whilst this is being done the barriers should remain open.
