Town Hall bridge
You're quite right, residents will be able to use the footbridge but Una's point was that the developer inserted the bridge to benefit the owners of flats in the towers and blocks. The bridge will cost millions to build, it's long, it's high (wet and windy), it will be subject to vandalism and bricks being heaved off it, and it impedes the view of the west side of the Town Hall, a Grade II listed building. It also blocks a view of the Town Hall from Furnivall Gardens and the river. The developer had opportunities to remove it but has chosen not to do so. Despite user reservations about the underpass it is short, protected from the wind and weather, is rarely troubled by graffiti and is not a crime hotspot. The ideal solution would be a surface crossing but that would require permission from Transport for London. Now that Hammersmith flyover's life is surely limited perhaps this would be the time to push the traffic underground extending west beyond the Town Hall?(Apologies for not continuing the thread as given; despite all help from the site I still get 'Internal Server' error messages when replying to posts.)
