Gays and Kylie in Hammersmith

Despite the awful weather there was a very festive atmosphere in Hammersmith this evening. Kylie Minogue is at the Apollo. I never realised she had such a big following amongst gay men who seem set to make up at least half the audience. What's that all about?

I have been to opera, classical music and heavy metal concerts and never notice an unusually high number of gays but Hammersmith was packed with the on the night of Kylie's concert. I'm not aiming to promote a view in pointing this out, just making an observation and asking a question.

I have never thought of myself as one of a "community" based on the gender of who I go out with - I thought that patronising concept had died a decent death; never mind. But personally I like Kylie because she is fun, and loathe opera because it is screechy.As for heavy metal, good grief....the beards!!!

This is promoting a slightly stereotypical view of the gay community. They are just as likely to go to the opera, classical music or even heavy metal gigs.
