The Tory administration are absolutely shameless! Read the last line of the article, effectively a rebuttal and a scandalously untrue statement: "A spokesman for the council said: “HMRC has complimented the council on the effectiveness and efficiency of its approach to its voluntary disclosure."There is absolutely nothing to suggest the council did not act in good faith.”The Council acted in appallingly bad faith: they looked at every way they could to make the minimum deductions from the directors' pay. Shame! Shame! Shame on them! Can we ask Stephen Greenhalgh and his closest policy advisor, Mark Loveday, to pay this fine out of their own pockets, please? Why should council tax payers be penalised for THEIR political decision?
