Buying a House in White City?

Hello!2 year renter in Shepherds Bush, now considering buying a house for the first time.  I can't afford anywhere in the area - apart from White City.  What do people think of it?  Seems to have a bad rep, but looked up the local crime stats and it seems sound.

I believe part of the reason for the 'bad rep' is the space now occupied by Westfield use to have an itinerant population which many local people felt was a source of crime. It is never going to be an elite area mainly due to its proximity to major roads but people who I know who live there were born and bred and wouldn't consider moving.
