The popular Lyric Square big screen is back on Monday 29 June, just in time for the Wimbledon tennis tournament. It will be bringing every match, rally and nail-biting tiebreak to the heart of King Street — completely free and with no booking required.
Deckchairs will be out, the atmosphere will be buzzing, and tennis fans can settle in to watch the world’s greatest players compete on the grass. This year’s Championships are set to feature British stars Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper, alongside returning champions Iga Świątek and Jannik Sinner. There’s added excitement too: Venus and Serena Williams are back in SW19 after receiving a wildcard for the women’s doubles. Serena made her long-awaited return to tennis earlier this month in Hammersmith & Fulham, competing at the HSBC Championships at The Queen’s Club.
For those not making the trip to SW19, finals weekend on 11 and 12 July promises the best match-day atmosphere outside the All England Club.
Once the last ball has been struck, Lyric Square’s big screen shifts into film-festival mode. The ever-popular free movie nights return with a run of blockbusters, family favourites and classics.
The season opens on Thursday 16 July with Wicked: For Good, followed by Paddington in Peru on Thursday 23 July. Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar lands on Thursday 30 July, bringing Matthew McConaughey and deep-space drama to Hammersmith.
August begins with opera: The Royal Opera’s La bohème will be screened on Thursday 6 August, offering a rare chance to enjoy world-class performance in the open air.
The summer season wraps up on Thursday 13 August with the beloved rom-com 10 Things I Hate About You, a perfect feel-good finale.
All screenings begin at 6pm, with live music and entertainment from 4pm, making Lyric Square a lively early-evening destination throughout July and August.
