Barons Court Theatre will welcome award-nominated writer and performer Billy Morton this October as he brings his debut solo comedy show, Every Ghost Story Ever, to London as part of GrimFest the autumn horror-comedy festival .

Fresh from a run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, Morton appears in character as “connoisseur of the creepy” Billy Bones, guiding audiences through a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek tour of ghost stories in all their forms.

Morton promises not just a retelling of familiar tales but a playful dismantling of the genre itself. As he puts it, “everyone knows – or thinks they know – the famous ones; and everyone’s either a believer or a sceptic. That’s what makes it so interesting to explore.” The show leans heavily into comedy, with Morton embracing the idea that “comedy and horror are opposite sides of the same coin… although in this show we’re definitely leaning more on one side (the comedy side, for the avoidance of doubt).”

Audiences can expect silliness, sharp wit and plenty of tangents, alongside moments of genuine atmosphere. Morton also invites audience members to share their own supernatural experiences, a part of the show he describes as “such a special moment – having an audience member share something quite personal – that creates a real atmosphere in the room.”

Morton’s background spans improvisation, Shakespeare, BBC Radio 4 and award-nominated audio comedy. His company, Four Presidents, recently produced A Sherlock Holmes Christmas, nominated for Best Scripted Show at the Golden Lobe podcast awards. Every Ghost Story Ever arrives in London with strong reviews from its Fringe run, praised as “an extremely well-constructed show” (Theatre in Brighton ★★★★★), “a fun late-night chilling delight ” (One4Review ★★★★) and “erudite and entertaining ” (StandupCom Magazine ★★★★).

Every Ghost Story Ever runs at Barons Court Theatre on 22, 23, 27 and 28 October, with performances at 8.30pm (1 hour). Tickets are £14/£16 and available via LineUpNow.

Barons Court Theatre is at 28a Comeragh Road, W14 9HR (nearest tubes: Barons Court and West Kensington).
