A series of litter picking events organised by Hammersmith Bid have taken place over the last few weeks will volunteers from local firms helping out.

As part of Sustainable September, twenty people from Accor Invest, Dassault Systemes and Hearst Networks came to help tidy the town centre.

Altogether they collected over 100 cans and glass bottles, 29 vapes and 1,140 cigarette butts.

One of the volunteers said, ‘Seeing the number of cigarette butts when I first took part in the litter pick contributed toward my decision to quit smoking’.

A member of the public told the litter pickers as they went about their task, ‘Thank you for contributing to making Hammersmith cleaner, you have inspired me to organise a litter pick in my local area’.

Hammersmith BID facilitates litter-picking sessions and other green volunteering opportunities. It has joined #LitterHeroes across the UK, working with employees to create a cleaner and greener Hammersmith.
