New season for community choir and fundraising Affordable Art Sale

Hammersmith’s Grove Neighbourhood Centre is preparing for a lively and creative autumn, with two community events designed to bring neighbours together through music, art and shared enjoyment.

The Grove Community Choir returns this season with an open invitation to anyone who wants to sing, connect and have fun, while a special Affordable Art Sale will showcase paintings, photographs, ceramics and other works created by local people, all to raise funds for the centre.

The choir begins its new term on Monday 21 September, offering ten weeks of relaxed, inclusive singing sessions from 5.15pm to 6.45pm. The group prides itself on being open to everyone, with no auditions and no need to read music. The first week is free, giving newcomers the chance to try it out, and sessions cost £5 thereafter. Held at the Grove Neighbourhood Centre on Bradmore Park Road, the choir has become a welcoming space where residents can unwind, meet new people and enjoy the simple pleasure of singing together. Supported by Horton and Garton, the project continues to grow as more people discover the joy of community music-making.

Later in the month, the centre will host its Affordable Art Sale, an evening event celebrating creativity from across Hammersmith. On Tuesday 29 September, from 5pm to 9pm, visitors can browse a colourful mix of paintings, photographs, artworks and ceramics produced by the Grove’s Folk Art and Life Drawing classes, alongside contributions from local artists and members of the community. Every piece has been donated to raise funds for the centre, making the sale both an opportunity to pick up original artwork at accessible prices and a chance to support a invaluable neighbourhood hub. Entry is free, and the centre’s doors will be open to anyone who wants to explore the work on display.
